  • I’m having car problems; how can I get help?

    Start by downloading our app from the Apple app store/ Google Play store. Search for Tinker DIY and follow download instructions. After you create your profile, you can make a video call through the app to be connected to an Expert in real time!

  • How much does it cost to get connected to a Tinker Expert?

  • How can I become an Expert?

    Are you interested in helping people grow their auto DIY knowledge and believe you have the qualities and experience to be a Tinker Expert? Great! Here’s how to apply: 

    1. Submit your application. 
    2. Applicants who pass the screener will be asked to complete a vetting training quiz where you must upload video responses to confirm your experience. 
    3. Agree to a background check. 
    4. With clearance on all 3 points above, you will be invited to join our platform. 

     

  • How do you screen Experts on Tinker?

    Each of our Experts must have proven expertise as an automotive mechanic or experience in a similar role. In addition, our Experts must possess: 

     

    1. 3+ years of experience and/or are ASE-certified. 
    2. A strong knowledge of automotive systems including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. 
    3. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
    4. Strong communication and customer service skills 
    5. Background check clearance 
    6. Own an iPhone or Android 

     

  • How do I reconnect with an Expert from a previous call?

    Follow the steps below to reconnect with a specific Expert. 

    1. Open the Tinker app and tap on the “Activity” tab. 
    2. You will see a list of all the Experts you’ve previously spoken with. 
    3. Select the call you want to review. 
    4. On the call details screen, you will see the name of the Expert and a “Reconnect” button at the bottom of the screen.
     
  • Oops! My call dropped! How do I rejoin?

    If your call drops during a call with an Expert, you will be given the option to rejoin the call when you reopen the app within 5-minute timeframe. You will see the “reconnect” feature on the app.

  •  Which forms of payments do you accept?

    We currently accept credit/debit cards, Apple and Google Pay.

  • Which devices are supported by Android?

    We currently have optimized the experience for the following devices: 

    Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices
  • Which Android version do I need?

    Android version 12 or higher is required to download the Tinker app.

  • How do I contact support?

    For vehicle issues, please use the Tinker app to connect with an Expert mechanic. Our support team cannot assist with technical car questions.
